Knight-Swift Transportation, formed by the merger of Knight Transportation and Swift Transportation, is one of the largest trucking companies in North America. They provide a variety of logistics and transportation services, including truckload, LTL, and intermodal.

In order to work with Knight Swift, completing a carrier setup is the first step. Each broker has their own process. Here’s a how-to guide to get the carrier setup started with Knight Swift.

Broker Requirements

Documents Needed for Carrier Setup

Criteria

Must be complete and accurate.
COI (Certificate of Insurance)

Make sure lines of coverage are active.
The expiration date is after today.
There is an insurance contact in the top right (if using an Accord format).

COA (Certificate of Authority)

Many brokers will require you to upload this document.
You will also need to know your authority age and Interstate or Intrastate.

NOA (Notice of Assignment)

Must have effective date.
Must include the payee bank information (your factoring company if you have one, or your companies bank account information).

Equipment

Number of tractors.
Number of trailers and the type/size of your trailers

Carrier Setup Link

Each broker setup has a unique URL. Some will have a public facing URL and others will require a private invitation code in order to access a unique setup link.

System Setup

The carrier onboarding process is done on Highway.Highway is a relatively new compliance solution.

Highway handles the compliance aspect of carrier onboarding for brokers. Onboarding with Highway will require an invitation code from the broker.

Additional Insured

Most brokers will require during the onboarding process to be added as the additional insured. The carriers insurance company will need to issue a certificate of insurance with the updated additional insured based on the information provided to the carrier during the onboarding process.
